Religious Affairs Minister Suryadharma Ali said Hajj Operation Costs (BPIH) this year were likely to rise.

"The possibility of going up, the decision is currently being discussed by Parliament and will be delivered tomorrow (Thursday-red) results," said Suryadharma after attending the opening of a national working meeting of Indonesian Islamic Propagation Institute (LDII) IPB International Convention Center in Bogor on Wednesday.

But he did not mention the range of the planned increase in BPIH.

He just explained that BPIH increased because the cost of boarding in a flight to Saudi Arabia and the Middle Eastern country has increased.

"Two things are crucial in the discussion of this BPIH, the first guest-house or rental cost of housing in Mecca which is currently high and the price soared to two air fares," he said.

"Last year 3150 real housing prices, so this year such as 3700 rising real increase of 550 means that there are real, I think with this amount can still be understood," he said.

Meanwhile, for the flight, continued the Minister, Garuda Indonesia is to fix the price of 2263 U.S. dollars, up from last year's year 2020 U.S. dollars.

DPP Chairman LDII Abdullah Syam said the public can not do much if the government decides to raise BPIH.

"If we want to say what up, it's a government decision. Currently we are managing our lives in order to have the savings to be able to perform the pilgrimage," he said. (KR-LR)
